THE MOUND NEAR TO NOVO SELO REVEALS MORE SECRETS FROM THE PAST!

On 30.07.2014 Assoc. Prof. Kostadin Kisyov, PhD, discovered a sarcophagus of a Thracian aristocrat. The director of the Museum was astounded when he found 2 liters of liquid of 2 000 years old. It was in the funerary urn situated under the burned bones of the Thracian ruler. It will be made a chemical analysis to understand what actually is it: water whit fragrant oils, wine or blood.

There, on this archaeological site, the director of the Museum discovered three skeletons of three horses. The animals have been killed and buried together whit the Thracian ruler, because in the Past it has been ceremonial practice.

The Archaeological Museum Plovdiv for the first time participated in the Night of museums and galleries with a lecture and discussion with foreign scientists, an exhibition of rare and valuable books and film screenings about archaeological excavations.
